The Stanley Parable is a first-person game. You will play for Stanley, and you will not play for Stanley. You will follow the story, you will not follow the story. You will have a choice, you will have no choice. The game will end, the game will never end. A contradiction follows a contradiction, the rules of how the game should work are violated, and then violated again. This world was not created to be understood by you. But as you explore it, meaning gradually begins to emerge, paradoxes may begin to make sense, and perhaps you will begin to understand something. The game is not here to fight you, it invites you to dance.
